Memo brilliant in Group 3 Magic Night Stakes

There was no more deserving big race winner this weekend than Memo, who avenged some luckless defeats with a thrilling late run to take out the Group 3 Magic Night Stakes at Rosehill.

Again drawing a wide barrier as has been her luck for the majority of her short career to date, she was forced towards the rear, but produced an outstanding turn of foot to mow down her rivals in the straight and record an impressive win.

Memo’s victory was a particularly sweet one for her breeder, Rob Love, who retained a significant stake in this exciting young filly when she was sold to Snowden Racing for $350,000 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale. Rob raced her dam, Notation, who was a JHB weanling purchase, while he has also been a founding member of the JHB Colt Partnership, which produced Memo’s sire, Golden Slipper winner Capitalist.

Notation had a Stay Inside yearling colt, who recently sold for $380,000 at the Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale to Yulong, and is back in foal to Capitalist to produce a full sibling to Memo.

Many thanks to the team at Snowden Racing, to jockey Kerrin McEvoy, and congratulations to the owners of Memo, who have a very valuable and exciting filly on their hands.
