After a sensational return winning the Group 2 Sheraco Stakes for the second year running, Sunshine in Paris has been competing with the best sprinters in the country. Yesterday at Flemington, she earned just rewards with an exciting victory in the Group 1 VRC Darley Champions Sprint.
Given an exemplary steer by Champion Jockey James McDonald, she was covered up within striking distance of the leaders, and when the gap came, she showed her customary sprint and tenacity to get there in the shadows of the post, defeating a top-class field, including Group 1 The Everest winner Bella Nipotina.
Sunshine in Paris was a JHB Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale purchase on behalf of John and Deb Camilleri’s Fairway Thoroughbreds. A huge congratulations to John and Deb, who are great supporters of racing and breeding, on this thoroughly deserved Group 1 victory. Well done also to trainers Annabel Neasham and Rob Archibald, who have done a fantastic job with this filly, and to jockey James McDonald for a perfect ride.
