Faeger gets his city win at Canterbury

Choisir colt Faeger got his metropolitan win this week at Canterbury and got it in some style, breaking the class record for 1100m with top weight of 59kgs.

As befitting a $560,000 yearling, Faeger is a hugely impressive specimen and the addition of blinkers gave him the race focus to run his rivals down here, showing good speed straight out of the gates and a great attitude under pressure.

A son of Choisir, like JHB’s dual Group winner Defcon who stands this season at Eureka Stud, Faeger is the third city winner from his speedy dam Fairchild, a daughter of top-class speed influence General Nediym. He comes from a family of quality sprinters, notably Hong Kong G3 winner Sichuan Success and Yellow Diamond, runner-up in the G1 Hong Kong Centenary Sprint.
