Lightly-raced mare Caribbean Rose always looked the type to improve with age, being a New Zealand bred daughter of Tavistock and from the family of several older stars, and so it proved when she ran out a ready winner this week at Rotorua.
Trained by the Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman team, she was caught in a tricky spot towards the outside on this tight track, but proved much too good for her opposition, powering away in the straight.
Caribbean Rose was purchased from the Cambridge Stud draft as a yearling in the New Zealand Bloodstock Premier Yearling Sale, and is a half-sister to multiple stakes placed Stravinsky mare Crystal Fountain, and out of a half-sister to VRC Oaks winner Serenade Rose and the dam of Group 1 winning sprinter Trekking. This is also the family of Champion older horse Voila Ici and Hong Kong Horse of the Year and multiple Champion Viva Pataca.
Congratulations to winning owners Love Racing, in whose familiar red and white heart silks she races in.
